Philanthropy/Community Service

With our community service, we are trying to give back to the community and help out in any way possible by becoming active in the community, to help out those less fortunate, or those that can’t help themselves. This past semester we logged over 300 hours, and with having logged almost 500 hours this past year, we recorded more than any other fraternity on campus.  Here are a few of the events we volunteered in over the past year:

·         The Adopt a Highway program where we have adopted a two mile stretch on highway US-67 just west of town.

·          The Concho River clean up, which was done from Walnut drive back towards Central High School. It was a joint effort to help clean up around the river and better the community area.

·         Meals for the Elderly which is a non profit organization that delivers meals to elderly people who may not be able to drive themselves to get a decent meal. So, the Pikes help out by taking on a route to deliver hot meals once a week. On top of that, we have worked closely with this organization in delivering emergency meals to serve as a back up for people when the Meals for the Elderly can’t make a route due to weather or some other circumstance. We also helped out with the annual open house which is done to help aid in funding for the non profit organization.

·         YMCA haunted house where we had some people dress up and help pass out candy, and even help with booths all in good fun for the kids.

·         Gathered the largest group and support for the annual MS Walk, in which we walk a set distance to help raise money for those with Multiple Sclerosis.

If you are in need of volunteers, please contact an officer and we will be happy to consider all requests.
